10 Tips to help keep your iPhone working at its best

Ten Tips to help keep your iPhone working at its best1.     Restart Weekly: Why turn off your iPhone weekly? Well it will shut off running applications and conserve your memory improving your smart phone’s performance. How do I turn off/turn on my phone? Press & hold button located at the top of your phone. Then slide to turn off. Wait for it to completely shut down then press & release button to turn on. It will take about 20-30 seconds for complete shut down/turn on.

    2.     iOS Software Update: Avoid slow & unresponsive iPhone by updating your operating software. Apple will frequently make improvements to iOS with security patches, enhanced capabilities or fixing bugs that slow your phone’s performance. How do I update my software? 1.Settings 2.General 3.Software 4.Update

    3.     Protective Cases & Screen Protectors: Protective iPhone 5 cases & screen protectors can save you from costly repairs due to impact, dirt and scratches. Many of the newer enhancements with iPhone 5s case design & strengthened LCD guerilla glass helps. However anyone who has experienced “the drop” without a case will tell you walking around with a damaged iPhone till you qualify for an upgrade sucks. Avoid costly repairs, protect resale value and enjoy your fully functional iPhone.

    4.     Buy latest iPhone model: Having the latest model will ensure you have the fastest, most up to date iOS & enhanced capabilities. Buying your iPhone on launch date isn’t any cheaper than a year later. Why not enjoy the latest technology? You can also sell your old phone at the highest resale value to “late adopters.” In many cases I have personally made money selling the old phone out of contract when I bought the newest model.

    5.     Avoid Weak Signal & Improve iPhone Battery Life: Weak cell reception and Wi-Fi can reduce your battery life by hours. Avoid auto Wi-Fi connections that are not secure or in public places. If you phone is constantly trying to connect to Wi-Fi at your local restaurant or in bad carrier connection will drastically reduce battery performance. Keep a back up charger handy for the car or office.

    6.     Shut Down Your Running Apps: Shutting down your iPhone weekly will turn off many apps and memory hogging resources. However throughout the week it is good to shut down apps you don’t use daily. When you click the home button the app doesn’t turn off it is running in the background, which eventually slows your iPhone’s performance. How do I shut down apps? Double tap the home button. You will see a pop on the tray of apps along the bottom of the screen. Press & hold the app you wish to turn off and press the – to turn off.  Please note only do this when using the double tap home button and not just on your iPhone. Otherwise you will accidentally delete the app off your iPhone versus turning it off.

    7.     Inspect & Clean Regularly: Inspecting your phone for damage, dirt, and moisture. Many people put off fixing that damaged LCD screen after leaving their iPhone naked exposed to the elements. Electronics hate moisture and that cracked LCD screen or damaged button can take a toll on your phone’s performance & resale value.

    8.     Avoid Video & Music Streaming: Being unplugged while using your favorite music streaming app at the office or extensive video sessions will reduce your battery to just a few hours. Keep your iPhone docked or connected to the adapter while at the office or in the car.

    9.     Location Services: Location services are great for social media status updates, Google Maps or Apple Maps navigation but did you know that your iPhone is constantly updating your geo positioning which slows your phone and reduces battery performance? How do I change my location Services preferences? 1. Settings 2.Privacy 3. Location Services 4. On/off

    10.  Notifications & E-mail: Social media is great but those notifications & text reminders constantly popping up will kill your battery. Turning off the auto push on your email will also conserve battery life and improve your iPhone’s performance. How to change my iPhone’s notification settings? 1. Settings 2. Notifications 3. Click into app and adjust

Great tips, Ill have to try a few of the others, but I definitely shut my phone off a couple times a week. Not exactly sure why it works, but I wish Apple would do something about it.
